Thermoplastics

Fabricform II is very similar to the original Fabricform, but it is slightly thicker and a pale bluish-greenish  color.

Sheet size: 43″ long X 55″ wide…………………………………………$90.00

Instructions for use:

Heat water to 140-160 degrees F, in a pan large enough to accomodate the piece of Fabricform II you are using. Fabricform II can be folded over if a large pan is not available. Heated Fabricform II softens in this temperature of water in approximately 30-60 seconds.

Remove Fabricform II from the water and form over virtually any hard object; i.e. glass, most plastics, clay (if a soft variety, first cover with aluminum foil), mannequin heads, metal objects, sealed plaster, etc.

You have approximated 2-3 minutes of working time, depending on ambient temperature, before Fabricform II starts to “set.” During that time, the Fabricform II may be stretched (on the bias), pleated, folded, tucked, ruffled or notched to achieve maximum contouring. Work steadily, pressing firmly, rather than rapidly. If Fabricform II cools too quickly, or you with to remold a specific area, re-submerge object and fabric in hot water. If this is not possible, pour hot water over the Fabricform II and the object. Repeat this as often as necessary until shape is formed. Fabricform II becomes rigid in ten minutes. To set it faster, you can immerse it or spray it with cold water, or with a cool spray aerosol.

To work Fabricform II “free-form”, heated fabric may be stretched, pleated, ruffled etc. by hand. You can stretch and staple it, tie it, drape it etc. Smocked-effect can be achieved by pinching it together at appropriate intervals. To make Fabricform II stick to itself, squeeze together firmly while hot. Both surfaces have to be hot in order to stick.

An alternative work method is to use an industrial heat gun, or heat lamps. this is good for working small areas, a little at a time. Note: Fabricform II gets sticky when used with dry heat. To prevent this, wet fabric with warm water while working.

Fabricform II can be painted with any type of paint, such as acrylic, lacquer, scenic paint etc.; and it can be covered with all types of adhesives and coatings, such as hot and spray glues, epoxies, wheat paste, gesso, modeling paste, resin coatings, putty, plaster etc.

NOTE: Fabricform II is approximately twice the thickness of a piece of canvas.
